Blatant Hypocrisy

by Dorit Rabbani

I am writing in response to several Letters to the Editor (Aug. 1) regarding your July 25 article, “Baffled by Obama.” Numerous readers wrote that they were persuaded against voting for Sen. Barack Obama because of his affiliation with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright as well as his willingness to listen to Louis Farrakhan speak in his church.
How can we question Obama’s politically motivated religious affiliations when our own Jewish leaders cozy up to the radical Christian right in order to promote our pro-Israel agenda? Let’s call it like it is. This is a case of blatant hypocrisy in the Jewish community. If you’re not voting for Obama because of the Rev. Wright issue, you should ask your own rabbis and lay leaders to

stop their affiliation with the Evangelical movement.
